Pursue a doctorate in physical therapy

OHSU and the Oregon Institute of Technology are creating a joint Doctor of Physical Therapy Education Program.

The program, based in Klamath Falls, will provide a comprehensive entry-level and post-baccalaureate DPT education. It will prepare high-quality graduates to become practitioners of choice and leaders in physical therapy, with an emphasis in rural physical therapy care.

The program, set to begin in summer 2023, will ensure that graduates develop competence in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with health or medical conditions that may affect movement and mobility.

Clinical faculty from OHSU, Oregon’s only public academic medical center, will share expertise in  acute and outpatient care from OHSU Hospital, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and OHSU clinics. To prepare students for the range and complexities of rural practice, they will provide instruction virtually as well as through direct experience in clinical rotations.
