The War on Melanoma™ is planning to launch a statewide melanoma early detection media campaign and educational curriculum — and we need your help!
How soon a melanoma is detected directly correlates to survival rates: the earlier a melanoma is found, the more treatable it is. In fact, the 5-year survival rate for melanomas that haven't spread is over 98%. Early detection will prevent melanoma deaths.
How to get involved:
As a critical effort in the War on Melanoma™, we are creating an educational curriculum designed to inform people about melanoma, and more specifically the early detection of melanoma. When this curriculum launches, we will need 'boots on the ground' to help spread this information as widely as possible - to family, to friends, to your community and beyond. It is this grassroots effort that will make the largest impact in spreading awareness!
Volunteer positions are being developed now. If you are interested in contributing in any way, please contact:
MoleMapper™ is an iPhone app that lets you take control of your skin health from the palm of your hand!
Changes in a mole's appearance (size, shape, or color) over time can indicate a cancerous lesion. Using MoleMapper™, you can photograph, map, and measure your moles over time, allowing you to detect potentially harmful changes in your skin.
The Melanoma Community Registry is a major resource of volunteers used to fight the War on Melanoma™.
By joining the Registry, you will receive information about future melanoma-related projects, educational events, research, volunteer opportunities, and more. It is the best way to stay up-to-date and learn about ways to be involved in the War on Melanoma™!
Registering is easy as 1,2,3: click the Register Here button, fill out the data forms with your information, and submit!
