Patients may need revisional bariatric surgery if weight loss from a previous bariatric procedure leads to inadequate weight loss or results in complications. The type of surgery depend on your previous medical history and individual complications.
Revisional bariatric surgery is usually performed laparoscopically. Although this type of surgery may have a higher risk of complications, it can be successful in treatment of inadequate weight loss if there is an anatomic or surgical reason for the weight gain. Again, the surgeon will discuss with you the appropriateness of such an operation.
Each revisional operation is unique. We will work with you to discuss if you are a good candidate, what approach would be best, and what risks are involved.
