About me

Dr. Pederson grew up in Minnesota and moved to Oregon in 2013 for his family medicine residency at OHSU where he enjoys practicing full-spectrum primary care with an emphasis on maternity care. Ben has extensive experience in global health and underserved care. In addition to residency, he also works with Organic Health Response (www.organichealthresponse.org), a community-based NGO based on Mfangano Island, Kenya, where he assists on regional health service development and research related to HIV/AIDS.

Ben has a special interest in complex and chronic disease management and prevention including HIV/AIDS, diabetes, congestive heart failure, and chemical dependency. He is also committed to building strong LGBT services at OHSU. He is compassionate about building a practice that provides the highest quality of care for patients with diverse backgrounds and from underserved communities. Ben is committed to supporting the health and wellness of not only individual patients but also the entire community through academic research and advocating for policies that expand access to health care services.

Beyond clinical work, Ben enjoys exploring the forests, mountains, and coasts of the Pacific Northwest on bike or foot whenever he can. He is an avid runner, cross-country skier, cyclist, and photographer.

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
