About me

Ruth Christiansen (she / her / hers) enjoys serving patients of all ages and walks of life, and appreciates being able to help them in their journey to lead healthier and happier lives. She is passionate about preventive medicine, patient education and health equity. Ruth is a primary care provider on the OHSU transgender health care team and one of her favorite parts of her job is gender affirming care.

Ruth values the opportunity to provide whole family, comprehensive care. She appreciates the uniqueness of each of her patients and finds her partnerships with them inspiring, wonderfully challenging and very rewarding.

Ruth has worked in a range of behavioral and mental health roles. She enjoys supporting and collaborating with her patients to improve their mental as well as physical well-being. Before becoming a physician assistant, Ruth worked in organ transplant medicine and in laboratory science. Because of those experiences, she eagerly helps her patients maintain good diabetic and blood pressure control and likes to encourage them to stay active and eat healthy.

Ruth is always accepting transgender patients or family members of current patients, even if her panel is "closed." Appointments can be made by calling the clinic.

When she's not working, Ruth loves to travel, read, dance, hike, garden and spend time with her family, puppy and friends.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
