Ongoing Care for Life

Where we fit in today's primary care picture

Our physicians and providers are experts in the medical care of adults and specialize in helping individuals become and stay healthy. You do not need a sport-related problem to be cared for in our clinic. Our doctors are primary care physicians and welcome new patients.

We care for the whole patient

All of our physicians are "internists" with postgraduate training in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect adults. They also bring specialized understanding of wellness (disease prevention and the promotion of health), women's health, mental health, care of the elderly, managing patients with several illnesses at the same time and the treatment of common problems of the joints and muscles, eyes, ears, skin and nervous system. Our dietitians are experienced in sports nutrition as well as general nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.

What is Sports Medicine?

Sports medicine is much more than taking care of athletic injuries. For us, it means helping all people be more physically active and using exercise to treat medical problems, such as hypertension, obesity, glaucoma and heart disease. You do not need to be an athlete to come to this clinic, but you can expect our doctors to talk with you about ways to get and stay healthy - including being more physically active.

Ongoing care for life

Our aim is to care for patients throughout their lives. When other specialists, surgeons or obstetricians are needed, your doctor can make referrals to other physicians at the University and in the community. If you need hospitalization, your doctor will remain involved with your care

We teach other doctors and medical students and do research to advance medical care

All our physicians are faculty of Oregon Health & Science University. In addition to directly caring for patients, they teach in the medical school and supervise other doctors in the hospital and clinics.

As specialists in internal medicine, health promotion and sports medicine, our doctors research topics, such as preventing drug use among teenagers and adults, how exercise and a healthy diet can prevent and treat illnesses, how to best help people change unhealthy habits, how fitness testing can detect diseases of the heart, lungs and muscles, and the special care needs of athletes.
