Grand Rounds: To Live or Die: Silence, Shame and Stigma; Creating Compassion & Preventing Suicide
Presented by Diane Kaufman, M.D.
When |
September 16, 2020
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Grand Rounds DetailsPlease join us (remotely) for a virtual Grand Rounds presentation presented by Diane Kaufman, M.D. Dr. Kaufman will be presenting, “To Live or Die: Silence, Shame and Stigma; Creating Compassion & Preventing Suicide”. Healthcare providers are an at-risk population for stress, vicarious traumatization, burnout, as well as mental illness including depression and suicide. When the healthcare system, and we as healthcare students and providers, can understand and accept the fact that we are all "human" without shame, it is more likely that those in mental health need will be empowered to seek out and receive help. Sharing stories of our own mental health challenges can have an inspirational impact on others and ourselves. It is not very often, if indeed ever, that healthcare students, educators, and providers are given the opportunity to share their own lived experience to further break through the imposed silence, shame and stigma of mental illness. When it's time, join your Webex meeting here. Phone (audio only): Mobile phone (one-touch): |
