Dr. Burns presents in Thailand

Beech Burns, M.D., M.C.R., traveled to Thailand for the 2017 Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) Scientific Annual Meeting, where he delivered a lecture for the pediatric portion of the event entitled, "Pediatric Fever: When Should We Worry?"

The talk covered the approach to evaluation of pediatric fever in the United States and explored the diagnostic strategies employed for children of various age groups and the effect of immunization on the incidence of disease in our country. There was some discussion of the epidemiology of bacterial disease in Thailand and a review of early research about technologies for differentiating bacterial from viral disease.

Later that evening, Dr. Burns met with several stakeholders from BDMS involved in developing the first pediatric emergency department in the country.

We look forward to welcoming a group of physicians from BDMS who will be participating in an immersive experience at the OHSU Emergency Department in late October and early November.
