Volunteer Opportunities
We are always seeking volunteers to conduct various psychological tests and assessments which may include:
- Semi-structured clinical interviews
- Cognitive, academic, and neuropsychological testing
- Physiological recordings
- Behavior rating scales
All tests and assessments are overseen by a qualified licensed professional.
Volunteers and Interns are required to complete OHSU compliances and background check prior to assignment, as well as providing vaccination records.

Volunteer tester description:
Volunteers will be in direct contact with children and their parents and will gain useful experience with child and adult cognitive, achievement and physiological tests. Students will also gain experience with state of the art software for data entry and analysis. Duties may include administering child and parent cognitive and academic tests (WISC, WIAT, WAIS, WRAT, etc); conducting child physiological readings and computerized tasks; scoring and data entry; and other general laboratory duties in support of the goals of the study.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to work in other studies like the EEG study, Infant Study and Nutrition Study. All in the same convenient location.
Qualifications:
• Must be a junior, senior, or post-bac.
• Coursework in child abnormal or developmental psychology, pre-health/physiology, child behavior, and statistics is preferred/beneficial.
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be willing to commit a minimum of 15-20 hours per week for a minimum of 9 months.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, timely, and professional.
• Basic knowledge of computer application software (Systat, SPSS, Excel, Eprime) is preferred, but not required.
Ability to work weeknights is required;10-20 hours/week, typically two 6 hour shifts. In addition, must be available to attend mandatory lab meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 2:00 to 3:00 pm and at least one Saturday per month from 11-5pm.
Interviewer description:
Graduate level students will be in direct contact with children and parents and will gain useful experience in clinical interviewing and data collection. Duties may include administering child and parent semi-structured clinical interviews (KSAD, SCID); cognitive and academic tests (WISC, WIAT, WAIS, WRAT, etc) and neuropsychologcial computerized tasks; assisting with the diagnostic decision process; providing feedback and referrals to families; scoring and data entry; and other general laboratory duties in support of the goals of the study.
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in the OHSU Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program or another qualified graduate clinical training program. Experience with DSM-IV criteria and clinical assessment along with child development is essential. Attention to detail is a must and previous lab experience is desired. Knowledge of computer application software (Systat, SPSS, Excel, Eprime) is preferred. Ability to work weeknights is required; 10-20 hours/week, typically two 6 hour shifts.
