Racial Equity and Inclusion Center: What is it?

What is the Racial Equity and Inclusion (REI) Center? Who is involved and what do they do? We are so glad you asked! In this Research and Innovation Town Hall, the REI Center Staff describe our vision and path to becoming an anti-racist institution. We touch on what the terms “systemic racism” and “anti-racism” are, a bit of the history of how the REI Center was established from grassroots activism on our own campus, and share how we apply some of the most important racial equity values and principles to our work. This is part one of a two part series.

Racial Equity and Inclusion Center: How it works?

In this video, we walk through the type of work we plan to engage during 2021. If you would like to learn details about the type of work we believe will help address embedded systemic racism, this video is for you!

2021 End of the Year Report

Curious about what the REI Center did in 2021? Check out our annually released End of the Year Report! At the REI Center, we use a systems lens, racial equity principles, values, and frameworks, for all of our work; from our center’s structure to our everyday tasks. Two of our guiding values include transparency and accountability. To practice transparency, this report details our work from 2021. This is essential for our community to better understand our work and value, to hold us accountable, and to model the kind of transparency we hope to see from others.
