Dr. Hullar joined the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery in 2015 as director of otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery and director of the Cochlear Implant Program. After graduating from Stanford University, he taught high school at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He received a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Max-Planck-Institut in Cologne, Germany before his medical studies at Harvard Medical School.

His clinical interests include the treatment of adults and children with hearing loss, tinnitus and imbalance, chronic ear disease, and benign and malignant tumors of the ear and lateral skull base. He is board certified in otolaryngology with additional certification in neurotology. He runs an active research laboratory focusing on cochlear implantation and imbalance. In his free time he enjoys sailing, canoeing, diving, and kayaking.

    He is a great surgeon, but has limited interaction and communication skills. Is not great at sharing information or communicating with me. Often talks to interns in front of me about my medial issues that he hasn't talked to me about.

    Dr Hullar is GREAT. He was willing to try to find a solution to our sons ear problem when no one other Doctor would. They told us it was something he would have to live with. Dr Hullar said that was unacceptable, then came up up with a roadmap solution. He is a problem solver.

    It was very pleasant to see my doctor and he was very thorough and I'd like to tell you what he told me about what I need to do with all the medicine I had to help with in finding more out what I need to do next and I enjoyed the hospital and this is urgent I had in there. So I really think it's a wonderful place for everybody to go.

    He came into the room with such a positive energy and very upbeat. He introduced himself and told me some of the things we could do about my hearing loss. He looked at my ears and gave me the details of what he was looking at. He was very polite and listened to my concerns. He also reviewed my questionnaire throughly and asked questions. Liked him very much.

    Dr, Hullar was very informative, patient and answered every question I had plus those questions I didn't ask. Dr. projected his voice so I did not need to ask him to repeat anything. Dr. comes across as very confident in a procedure he feels I need and leaves no question in my mind as to what I am considering. I therefore have total confidence in him.

    My experience with the provider was absolutely good for me. I think he has been a very professional and friendly provider and he has given me a lot of information about what my options are doing in my medical care. They have also helped me to understand more what is happening with my health and help, they talk to my children because sometimes I do not understand things and it has been a provider that has been quite compassionate, has good communication with my loved ones about my care, and that helped that we can make better decisions about my medical care.

    All the providers were amazing! The MRI tech that got me ready for my MRI was amazing and was able to put in my IV the first time with very little discomfort. Also there was no bruising after. I was very happy. The 4th year audiology extern did a great job with testing my hearing and making it an enjoyable experience. Dr. Huller answered all my questions and was very informative, and also was comforting to be around.
