Biography

Dr. Steven Wahls is a family doctor who chose primary care because he enjoys developing long-term relationships with patients and the privilege of getting to know them on a personal level. He also likes helping families navigate the opportunities of health.

In his current role, Dr. Wahls mentors OHSU family medicine residents and is passionate about empowering their development of the skills needed to practice in rural underserved areas. In addition, he is a designated Federal Aviation Administration senior medical examiner and performs medical exams and consultations for pilots.Dr. Wahls and his wife live in Northeast Portland and have three adult daughters, a wonderful son-in- law, and six grandchildren. Together, they enjoy hiking, biking, doing yard work, and exploring new areas of Oregon. The family considers hospitality an important part of their lives. Dr. Wahls’ other interests include aviation, downhill skiing, and construction projects.
