About me

Shiuh-Wen Luoh, M.D., Ph.D., is assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Luoh is also a staff physician at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He received his medical degree from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1986. He then received his Ph.D. in biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., in 1993. Dr. Luoh received his clinical training in internal medicine and hematology and oncology from UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, Calif. from 1994 through 1999. After serving as a clinical instructor for one year at UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Luoh moved to the University of Cincinnati and Vontz Center for Molecular Studies to begin his independent academic career.

He returned to the West Coast and joined the faculty of OHSU in October 2003. Dr. Luoh was a fellow scholar from the American Society of Hematology, and authored 12 articles and half a dozen abstracts in various areas of biomedical research. A devoted physician-scientist, Dr. Luoh is actively conducting laboratory and research in breast cancer, and also does research that translates directly into new treatments for patients. His career goal is to bring laboratory research to patient care for the benefit of breast cancer patients.
