Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.

Dr. Ryan Nesbit is a family physician with special interest in maternity and child health, LGBTQ+ health, care for mental and behavioral health issues, substance abuse disorders, and palliative care. Dr. Nesbit is also passionate about working to create better health access for all.

Dr. Nesbit believes family medicine is about providing compassionate care for people of all

backgrounds, genders, races, cultures and beliefs. He carefully considers the impact that families, communities and societies have on health and finds meaning in sharing stories, building connections with people and learning humility, humanity, and humor from others.

He grew up in West Linn, Oregon, and stayed in the Pacific Northwest to do his undergraduate work at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. After getting his B.A. degree from Whitman, he stayed in Walla Walla for two years to mentor high school students and to work as an AmeriCorps volunteer clinic coordinator at a free medical clinic for underserved patients.

He returned to the Portland area to enter medical school at OHSU and received his medical degree in 2019. When he's not working, Dr. Nesbit enjoys hiking, biking, baking bread, playing piano, reading, writing poetry, and playing cribbage or other board games. He's also an avid fan of the Portland Thorns, Timbers and Blazers.
