When I talked with Dr. Shindo at this appointment, she discussed my primary hyper parathyroid condition and it appeared that she was not aware that I was referred for and already scheduled for surgery. She was discussing my situation as if I had come to the clinic just to be assessed. I was a bit taken aback by this and stopped her when she was suggesting that I return at a later date for follow up. This had been a year long process to get to this point and the last thing that I wanted to hear was about coming back for another follow up. Once I explained that I was already scheduled for surgery, she understood and discussed my options appropriately.

Dr. Shindo and another attending doctor spent a good deal of time examining me for an upcoming surgery. They were thorough and discussed the surgery in depth in a way I could understand.

Dr. Shindo is a great listener and I feel lucky to have her as my surgeon.

Dr. Shindo is very business-like, so I don't have the same type of interaction I've known to have with other providers. However, she is very detail and task-oriented, so I feel reassured in her skill and the degree to which she cares for her performance, which reflects the quality of care I would expect her patients to have. Dr. Shindo doesn't leave a lot of room for nonsense, which I think is perfectly fine.

Since there was a doctor and assistant in the room, she discussed my situation with them and I listened to what she said, but she did not always talk to me directly. I was not given the summary of my visit, and once I get that sent to me, I will be able to contact her with questions. I did think she is was extremely thorough and really knows how to deal with my problem. I feel she is the best doctor and knows the most of any doctor I could see. She was highly recommended by the other doctors I see and other of her patients. I trust that I will be contacted once my blood work comes back, and I can ask questions about things I need clarification once I get my visit summary.
