Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.

Dr. Jenan Hilal is a family physician. She loves developing meaningful connections with people. She is passionate about family medicine across the lifespan, women's health and community involvement.

Dr. Hilal was born and raised in a small town in eastern Kentucky to a Lebanese father and a mother from northern Indiana. Many of her world views were shaped by travel throughout the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. during her childhood. It also instilled a love of travel early in life.

Despite this love of travel, she stayed close to home for college, attending the University of Kentucky. She studied biology and fell in love with community involvement when she began volunteering with local nonprofit groups. She worked as a writing consultant at the university's writing center, which gave her the privilege to work with students who speak English as a second language and invaluable insight into the importance of communication. Dr. Hilal earned the university’s Dr. Carl Cooper Jr. award for her skills in communication and developing strong patient relationships.

After college, Dr. Hilal continued her steady westward migration through Kentucky by starting medical school at the University of Louisville. During medical school, she became passionate about women's health after training and serving as a hospital advocate for a local rape crisis center. In her biggest move westward yet, Dr. Hilal came to OHSU, which provides ample opportunity to explore her various interests.

Dr. Hilal and her partner, Kevin, are excited about their new adventure in the Pacific Northwest.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading as many science fiction and fantasy novels as possible, painting, trying new food, and spending time outdoors running, hiking and biking.
