Biography

Dr. Henry Milczuk is a doctor at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH). He cares for children with problems of the head and neck (Pediatric Otolaryngology). He sees children with any type of problem involving the ears and hearing, nose, throat, face, neck, and airway. He is especially interested in helping children born with anomalies like cleft lip and palate. Dr. Milczuk focuses on treatments that will restore normal hearing and speech, as well as the child’s appearance. He partners with other providers in the Craniofacial Disorders Clinic (CFD) to optimize results for these children.

Dr. Milczuk strongly believes in collaborative care amongst the numerous providers at DCH. In addition to the CFD, other multidisciplinary clinics he participates in include the Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI) Clinic and Pediatric Voice Disorders Clinic. Combining the evaluation with a pediatric speech pathology partner we can offer treatment plans in one clinic visit. He also joins Dr. Lissa Baird, a Pediatric Neurosurgeon, to remove tumors from the brain through the nose. This joint surgical approach, anterior skull base surgery, allows us to treat children with these tumors without making any incisions on the skin.

Dr. Milczuk is also an Associate Professor in Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at OHSU’s School of Medicine. He has taught and mentored numerous residents, in both departments, during his 23 years at OHSU. Currently he is a member of the Credentials Committee and Pediatric Specialties Clinic Operations Committee at OHSU. Dr. Milczuk formerly served as Surgeon-in-Chief at DCH.

Dr Milczuk is active nationally and internationally. He is active with the International Working Group in Endoscopic Ear Surgery and recently presented his work in Bologna, Italy. For the past 10 years Dr. Milczuk teaches pediatric facial plastic surgery to Vietnamese surgeons at the National ENT Hospital in Hanoi. He is a co-investigator, with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Eastern Virginia Medical Center, helping to create a National Registry for patients with Juvenile Onset Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (JORRP). He is a member of an Epic Steering Committee working with others nationally to improve electronic medical record use for providers in Pediatric Otolaryngology. He trained at the University of Washington and met his wife in Seattle.

  • Jun 28, 2019

We had a great experience with this doctor. He asked all of our questions and wasn't in a hurry. He was straightforward but also caring.

  • Jun 27, 2019

They really took the time to make my child comfortable, and to include him in decision making. They even let him pick a stuffed animal to make him more comfortable. Jess with the patient care team was amazing as were our nurses doctors and residents! I have nothing but positive things to say about our entire experience and care team!!

  • Jun 08, 2019

He is effective at communicating what the plan is and how it will be accomplished. Good bedside manner!

  • Jun 05, 2019

He was informative and friendly. Took great care of my son.

  • May 24, 2019

Was very attentive and explained everything amazing.

  • May 23, 2019

We did not expect to see Dr. Milczuk on this day, but he worked my son into his schedule, and addressed the concerns I had about a nasal growth. I appreciated it so much.

  • May 18, 2019

My only suggestion for improvement is that questions prior to procedures needed are not fully answered via email. Dr. Milczuk can be very brief and not answer all the questions that I have asked in the email regarding procedures or recommendations that are needed. That is my only suggestion. More detail than actual answers to the questions and not just saying what is needed.

  • May 16, 2019

We love Dr. Milczuk. He is a great doctor who explains things easily and is just an awesome doctor, especially with little children.

  • May 15, 2019

I always appreciate the staff at Doernbecher's. They did a great job of trying to squeeze our spaced put appt.s together. It's difficult for us to stay a full day as we live 5 hours away.

  • May 14, 2019

We were disappointed with our appointment. Our son was scheduled to have a scope done. We prepped him for the visit and he was prepared to have the procedure done. When we got to the appointment we found out there was a mix up and we would not be able to have the procedure done and that we would need to reschedule the appointment.

  • May 10, 2019

He was both informative and kind. All of our questions were answered and my son's nervousness was eased with his doctor's kindness. Everyone was over the top professional and kind to my son to make the whole event much smoother with no trauma. Thank you.

  • May 09, 2019

Not very patient oriented. Very curt and impatient. Doesnt give the family time for questions or concerns.

  • Apr 29, 2019

He was great! Listened to our concerns about our son and did a quick but thorough exam to see what was going on first-hand. Appreciated how well he handled an upset 2 year old who doesn’t understand what is going on.

  • Apr 29, 2019

They saw my daughter very well on Tuesday and thanks to the people who helped and I liked how they treated her there thank you very much.

  • Apr 28, 2019

He didn't take his time. Didn't feel like he was very thorough and could've done a better job.

  • Apr 26, 2019

Horrible drove two hours for the doctor to not even look in my sons ears.nose or throat in fear of upsetting him. I also heard him repeat verbatim about the same diagnosis to the patient before us

  • Apr 22, 2019

We had a very good experience at Doernbecher. The staff was very friendly and informative and kept [Name] very comfortable for her procedure.

  • Apr 07, 2019

He is very professional, easily answers any questions we had. Very confident in his ability and the outcome of the procedure so we had high trust that our son was in good hands.

  • Apr 06, 2019

    Lacking bedside manner

  • Apr 06, 2019

Dr. Milczuk has been great. We've had several office visits and 2 surgeries with him. He has always been kind, patient, and very thorough. He never seems rushed and always answers all of our questions.

  • Apr 03, 2019

The doctor took time to answer my many questions, and made me feel comfortable, and that my child was safe in his hands.

  • Apr 03, 2019

It was the most horrible experience I've ever had taking my child and I have three of them to a doctor of any kind. He was short. He did not talk to my baby. Didn't look my baby in the he didn't answer my questions thoroughly and he was rude and he lied to me about the front desk helping me out with an appointment with the speech pathologist at OHSU. They had no idea how to do that. I had to do it on my own he sent me out of the office tell me that I was going to be taking care of it the office I wasn't and he was a horrible horrible experience. I will never come back to him nor will I ask anybody to ever go to them.

  • Mar 29, 2019

He is thorough, succinct, and knowledgable.

  • Mar 23, 2019

    It was great

  • Feb 11, 2019

He was great. Easy to talk to.

  • Feb 11, 2019

Dr. Milczuk is a great provider for my son [Name] be addressed all the concerns and explained us in a clear matter what that appointments outcome was.

  • Feb 10, 2019

They got us in way earlier than they originally thought they could. Then they were able to get my son in for surgery the very next day. My infant had been in pain (even while on antibiotics and pain reliever for a long time). We are so thankful for how fast they took care of him!

  • Feb 06, 2019

He is very skilled, knowledgeable and does what is best for the patient.

  • Feb 06, 2019

He was very thorough, thoughtful, and timely.

  • Jan 31, 2019

    Very professional and welcoming.

  • Jan 26, 2019

He was thorough and caring and we were so pleased with his care for our son.

  • Jan 26, 2019

The doctor was very short with us. Everytime I would ask a question I received a one worded answer. He spent maybe 3 seconds looking in my child's ears. When I asked him to explain the benefits of putting tubes in his ears and what he would recommend he just kept saying it was our decision. The whole appointment the doctor seemed like he was in a rush to get it over with. I left crying and feeling like my child meant nothing to him.

  • Jan 05, 2019

The staff (CNA's, Nurses, and Dr's) were so great with my 4 year old. I also appreciated Child Life coming and explaining things to ease my daughter's anxiety.

  • Jan 02, 2019

Very good overall but wish he slowed down just a little bit to reassure us. For example, after the procedure he jumped straight to telling us how to use ear drops. I inferred this must mean the procedure went smoothly, but it would have been nice for him to explicitly lead with ?things went just fine? before explaining aftercare. This surgery is very short and routine for the surgeons but not so routine for the parents.

  • Dec 27, 2018

Milczuk is the excellent surgeon, he has experience and he answers all the questions. The only flaw about him as his bed side manner, but I do like that about him.

  • Dec 23, 2018

Such an amazing place ! They make you feel comfortable and go over everything thoroughly! They make you comfortable to ask questions and make everyone feel like a priority

  • Dec 23, 2018

The provider was good and I think I heard exactly what I needed to hear. I think the workflow processes in terms of check in and supporting the provider could be better optimized in this office
