About me

Erica L. Smith-Cohen is a nurse practitioner who joined the Division of Infectious Diseases after a 12+ year career in adult trauma, surgical, and neurologic critical care.

While she continues to maintain a per diem critical care practice, she has always had interest in the intersection of public health, infectious diseases, and adult acute and critical care. She completed a semester abroad in China studying their rural healthcare system as well as completed two medical service trips to Brazil and Zambia. Erica has also served on the Yale-New Haven Hospital Medical Ethics Committee as a student member and completed a palliative care training through Harvard/MGH.  She is particularly interested in the care of at-risk, vulnerable, and underserved populations as well as antimicrobial stewardship in critical care.

Erica and her husband Stephen enjoy hiking, trying new Portland restaurants, taking trips to the coast, and spending time with their daughter.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
