Biography

Claire Hull graduated from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program in 1995 with a Master of Health Sciences degree.  She started her PA career in Oregon working in family medicine on the Siletz Indian Reservation.  In addition to family medicine, she has also practiced in hospital and emergency medicine.  She maintains a part-time clinical position in urgent care/acute care medicine.

Claire has enjoyed working in PA education for more than 20 years, and has served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles in both the didactic and clinical phases of PA education.  She joined the OHSU PA program in 2006 and served as the clinical coordinator for many years.  Currently, Claire is the course director for Clinical Practicum I, II, and III.  She is involved in teaching students, curriculum development, and assessments in both the didactic and clinical phases of the program. 

Claire is a site visitor for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA). She has also worked with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in the development of the national PA certification examinations.  She has also been actively involved in the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) serving on several committees and as a faculty presenter at conferences.

When not working, she enjoys reading, paper quilling, board games, walking/hiking, swimming, listening to (the best) music from the 1980s, and watching British crime dramas.

  • Jack Cole Society Award – Presented by the Yale University Physician Associate Program Class of 2006 for making outstanding contributions to the PA profession
  • Outstanding Teaching Award: Presented by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Surgical Physician Assistant Program Class of 2002.
  • Richard John Scheele Memorial Award for outstanding scholastic and leadership roles while a physician assistant student at Duke University Medical Center.
