About me

Dr. Anu Brixey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology in the Cardiothoracic Imaging section at Oregon Health and Science University.

Dr. Brixey attended college at The University of California, Berkeley where she double-majored in Rhetoric and Molecular/Cell Biology.  She obtained her medical degree from The University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.  Dr. Brixey completed an internal medicine residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Having developed an early interest in thoracic pathophysiology, she completed a three-year pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Brixey practiced as a pulmonary/critical care attending for four years during which she developed an interest in thoracic imaging.  She returned to training and completed a diagnostic radiology residency and cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at OHSU, after which she began her faculty career in radiology at OHSU.

The vast majority of Dr. Brixey’s clinical work involves interpretation of chest and cardiac imaging, to include chest radiography, chest computed tomography (CT), cardiac CT (including coronary artery CT angiograms, calcium score CTs, and exams for transcatheter valve replacement), chest MRI, and cardiac MRI. She also performs image-guided lung biopsies for diagnosis of abnormalities within the thorax. Her primary clinical interest is interstitial lung disease, and she is an advocate and believer in the importance of Multi-Disciplinary Discussions. Dr. Brixey enjoys public speaking, lecturing, writing, teaching, and resident education.

Dr. Brixey grew up in Sacramento, California and very much enjoys the outdoors, which is what initially drew her to the Pacific Northwest. She spends much of her free time hiking with her husband, two children, and two dogs, as well as trail-running.  She also enjoys wine/beer tasting, college football, reading, back-country backpacking, and international travel.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
