Stephanie Maya Lopez

Dr. Lopez graduated  cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a BS in Anthropology. After that, she completed medical school and psychiatry residency training at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She then completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University. She currently teaches at OHSU, the University of Oregon Law School, and the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She has taught about fitness to proceed evaluations for the state of Oregon’s Forensic Evaluation Training Program.

Dr. Lopez’ forensic practice focuses on, but is not limited to, evaluations for trial competency, criminal responsibility, medical malpractice, and medical board fitness for duty.

Dr. Lopez is the Medical Director and a treating psychiatrist at Luke- Dorf, Inc, a non-profit community mental health agency where she provides services and evaluations for a wide variety of individuals, including individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and individuals under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board. She also has experience in telemedicine and psychiatric care in correctional settings.

Dr. Lopez serves as the Associate Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program.
