Dr. Hernandez grew up in Houston, Texas. She thought she would never leave the Lone Star State, but that all changed after meeting her husband, Tony, in medical school.  After experiencing the great food, lively atmosphere, and brutal winters of Chicago for four years during residency, they moved to Portland where she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology.  She then practiced for two years in Colorado Springs, Colorado soaking in the sunny days and enjoying the gorgeous views of Pike’s Peak.  However, she was missing her colleagues and the academic environment at OHSU, so she jumped at the opportunity to come back.  When they are not working, they enjoy trying new restaurants, taking their two golden retrievers, Jake and Maggie, out for a swim, and going to Portland Timbers games.  She truly feels back home now.
