Biography

Pamela J Hughes, DDS is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University.  She is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with special clinical interests in orthognathic surgery for dentofacial deformities and obstructive sleep apnea, and reconstructive temporomandibular joint surgery. She received her DDS degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy and Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency training at the University of Minnesota.

 

After training, Dr. Hughes spent five years in private practice in the Chicago area, then transitioned into academic practice at the University of Minnesota where she spent 9 years as OMS Residency Program Director. She joined OHSU as OMS Department Chair in May 2014. Dr. Hughes has served on the examination committee for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, has served on the Board of Directors of the American Dental Education Association, and serves as faculty for other OMS educational organizations such as AO North America and the North American SORG.
