Laura Erker is the Executive Director of the OHSU CEI Reading Center assisting in critical aspects of this clinical research. The Reading Center is involved in acquiring data from ophthalmological testing done on trial participants in clinical trials involving gene therapeutics, oral drugs and longitudinal studies. She has played a part in the development of clinical trial software that allows remote file submission, compliance, auditable tracking, data analysis and endpoint export. During this time she has become familiar with the following ophthalmic testing strategies - Optical Coherence Tomography, Fundus Photography, Adaptive Optics, Visual Field (static and kinetic), Microperimetry, Best Corrected Visual Acuity, Fundus Autofluorescence, Infrared, full-field electroretinography and multi-focal ERG. Her research interests are in the study of rare genetic ophthalmic diseases and allied disorders. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Science at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2004.
