Art, science, and multiple ways of being are inextricably entwined in the practice of nursing. I have had the privilege of working with rural residents of Eastern Oregonian in a variety of settings since my move to Pendleton after earning my BSN at OHSU Portland: Acute care (Med-Surg, CCU, ER, House Supervision, Med-Surg manager), public health, correctional health, and nursing education using the OCNE curriculum. I brought the perspective of the rural nurse to my appointment to two terms on the Oregon State Board of Nursing, an experience that opened my eyes to the myriad ways that nursing is practiced in Oregon.
