Biography

Katie Ganey is the Community Outreach, Research & Engagement (CORE) Staff Experiential Coordinator at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development from Northern Arizona University, and has taught in a variety of early childhood and elementary education settings.

Katie worked as a Community Health Educator at OHSU for 5 years, ensuring effective dissemination of cancer prevention information to communities across Oregon with focuses covering skin health, sun safety, tobacco cessation and colorectal cancer screenings. Katie also lead the Melanoma Warriors group which supported community members in connecting with those who have like experiences with melanoma and skin cancers, as well as raising awareness and sharing available skin health resources and educational materials while connecting them with professionals within the Central Oregon community.

As the Staff Experiential Coordinator, Katie provides support for CORE team members in their multi-faceted endeavors, with a focus on the Community Partnership Program and Community/Patient Engagement Studios. She also plans and coordinates logistics of all events in support of the CORE team while managing the office at OHSU Community Research Hub in Bend, Oregon. In addition, Katie provides administrative assistance to the CORE Leadership Team.
