Biography

Jill Mason is an Associate Professor and Director of Community-Based Rotations at Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry. She also works in the Department of Undergraduate Periodontology, teaching in the undergraduate clinics.
Her academic background includes a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University, a dental hygiene degree from Oregon Institute of Technology, and a Master of Public Health in Dental Public Health and Health Behavior/Health Education from the University of Michigan.  
Her varied clinical experience includes 37 years in dental education, private general practice, endodontic specialty practice, US Public Health Service Indian Health Service, and managed care. In addition, she has been a supervisor for an international dental prevention program in Honduras for 14 years.  
She has several publications to her credit, including the text “Concepts in Dental Public Health,” now in its second edition. Her service to the profession includes positions at the local, state and national level, serving on National Board Test Construction Committees for 11 years, the joint Commission on National Dental Exams, and previously serving on the Oregon Board of Dentistry. She has served as an examiner for the Western Regional Examining Board and Commission on Dental Competency Assessments, and served as a member of the Dental Hygiene Exam Review Committee for the American Board of Dental Examiners.
