Jeanne Bereiter M.D.

Dr. Jeanne Bereiter is a general psychiatrist and child and adolescent psychiatrist. She provides clinical services at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health PES. She has been an associate professor at OHSU since May, 2018. Prior to joining OHSU, she was on faculty for twelve years at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has worked in community psychiatry in Anchorage, Alaska, and as a rural family physician in the Canadian Northwest Territories and in Alberta.

Dr. Bereiter’s clinical interests include psychiatric care throughout the lifespan, working with transitional age youth, women’s health, and integrative psychiatry.  She enjoys teaching, and was Training Director for the Child Psychiatry Fellowship in New Mexico for seven years.

Using her background in creative writing, Dr. Bereiter was director of the narrative medicine program for medical students, residents, and faculty at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She has published narrative pieces in medical literary journals and facilitated retreats and seminars on reflective writing for health care professionals.

Dr. Bereiter is married, with two grown children.
