Biography

I am an instructor at OHSU's School of Nursing in the Online RN to BS undergraduate degree program

I am an RN and paramedic and have been working for 30 years. My background includes pre-hospital care and flight nursing, I worked in a small hospital in the ICU, ED and then as a House Supervisor. I transferred to the regional ED and was a charge nurse, Trauma Coordinator and then became the manager of the level 2 regional trauma center.  During this time, I obtained a Masters Degree in Management, after 9 years in a leadership position, I left and took a job as the Director of Emergency Preparedness for Southern Oregon University and began teaching again for OHSU on the Ashland campus. Three years later, I was recruited to become the Administrator for an ambulatory surgery center, and I also obtained a post-master's certificate in nursing education. In 2015 I went back to teaching on the Ashland campus and then transferred to the OHSU RNBS on-line program in 2017. I currently also work for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and deploy around the US and US territories post-disaster to help coordinate care provided by federal disaster medical teams.

I have always enjoyed teaching and love watching students progress along their learning continuum. It brings me great pleasure to assist them in developing a strong nursing foundation and hopefully inspire them to become lifelong learners.
