Gene L. Bowman N.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Bowman is a clinician-scientist passionate about nutrition, complementary medicine and brain health. His background includes training in exercise science, epidemiology and biostatistics, and naturopathic medicine. He completed post-doctoral research in nutrition and Alzheimer’s disease followed by a NIH career development award to develop a platform for individualized nutritional therapies in prevention of AD. He maintained an active clinical practice for almost 10 years, spanning both academic medicine and private practice with specialization in clinical nutrition and integrative medicine for the prevention and management of cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases. He has experience leading interdisciplinary teams of people in academia, industry and voluntary health organizations. He has experience in the design and implementation of clinical nutrition trials and epidemiological studies focused on cognitive decline and dementia in both academic and industry settings.

Dr. Bowman is an assistant adjunct professor in the department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University. He is Co-Founder and acting Co-Chair of the international research hub that emphasizes “Nutrition, Metabolism and Dementia” science at the Alzheimer’s Association. He serves as an Investigator or Scientific Advisor on several national and international research projects and other initiatives in the area of nutrition, biomarkers and brain health. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Society for Nutrition, the International Life Sciences Institute in Europe and a European Union / United States Task Force on Clinical Trials in Alzheimer Disease.
