Danielle A. Smith, M.D.

  • Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, School of Medicine

Dr. Smith comes from a training program rich in coronary artery bypass, valve procedures (surgical and TAVR), and complex aortic procedures. She has a special interest in bicuspid aortic valve and connective tissue disease-related aortopathy. She believes in a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac surgery and close communication with patients’ cardiologists and primary care physicians.

Dr. Smith’s research interests focus on cardiac surgery outcomes, particularly in patients with bicuspid aortic valve and connective tissue disease-related aortopathy. Her previous research has focused on 4DMR imaging of the aorta in relatives of patients with bicuspid aortic valves. She is interested in research that will impact clinical outcomes for patients with aortic aneurysm and dissection.
