Charles R. Thomas, Jr., M.D. is Chair of the Department of Radiation Medicine and an active member of the Knight Cancer Institute. He joined the OHSU faculty in November 2005. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and is trained in medical oncology and radiation oncology. He has obtained triple-board certification in Radiation Oncology (American Board of Radiology), Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine (American Board of Internal Medicine). He is a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Rectal-Anal Cancer Task Force.

Dr. Thomas is author or co-author of over 240 journal articles and is a co-editor of multiple textbooks including Mediastinal Tumors (Springer-Verlag, 1995), Biliary Tract & Gallbladder Cancers: Diagnosis and Therapy (Demos Medical Publishing, 2008), and Esophagus Cancers: Practice and Principles (Demos Medical Publishing, 2009).
