Biography

Dr. Celeste Winters is an assistant professor and diagnostic imaging medical physicist in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the OHSU School of Medicine. Dr. Winters provides clinical physics services to all imaging modalities at OHSU and its satellite facilities, with her primary clinical role covering PET, nuclear medicine, and the theranostics program.

As an instructor in OHSU’s CAMPEP accredited medical physics graduate and residency programs, Dr. Winters strives to connect medical physics students with clinical experiences and research opportunities.

Dr. Winters’ research interests lie in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and mathematical programming. Her research includes: clinical applications of photon counting CT, PET/MR image analysis and manipulation, and statistical analysis of dosimetry related to theranostics patient experience. Dr. Winters is especially interested in providing physics support to interdisciplinary studies and enjoys collaborating with researchers within and outside of OHSU.

Dr. Winters completed her M.S., Ph.D., and Residency in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics at Oregon Health & Science University. Some of her notable accomplishments during her time here include: founding the student club “the Association of Medical Physics Students”, winning the GSO Student Mentor Award, contributing to national efforts toward improving medical physics trainee experience as a member of the AAPM Students and Trainees Subcommittee, and helping to create and leading a multi-institutional journal club as a member of the AAPM Work Group for Multi-Institutional Journal Clubs for Residency Programs.

Outside of work, Dr. Winters enjoys walking with her husband, playing the fiddle, and tackling home-improvement projects.
