Biography

Carrie Symmes is the Clinical Research Manager for the Knight Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) Research program. Carrie manages the CHO research staff and research operations at CHO’s 5 community clinics. In addition to managing the research operations at CHO, Carrie works as a consultant to the Knight Network, helping them build processes and best practices that meet the specific research needs of the Network Community sites.

Carrie has worked in cancer research for 12 years. She started her cancer research career working for one of the nation’s largest biobanks at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. There she managed cancer specimen distribution projects and investigator applications for access to tumor samples. From there she worked at The Ohio State University Arthur G James Cancer Institute as a clinical research coordinator specializing in thoracic medical and surgical oncology clinical trials. In 2013 she moved back to Oregon and began working for the Knight Community Hematology Oncology practice, helping them build up their research program.
