Biography

Dr. Sheppard specializes in pancreatic cancer and GI surgery. He has advanced training in Surgical oncology with a focus on the multi-disciplinary care of pancreatic cancer. Dr. Sheppard recalls being a 4th year medical student and speaking with a patient who was preparing for pancreatic cancer surgery. He was very frightened as at that time mortality was high from surgery. and survival overall for this disease was low. After that moment Dr. Sheppard became committed to improving surgical outcomes for pancreatic cancer and developing early detection and improved therapies for pancreatic cancer. His relationship with his patients , their families and the challenges they face provides him the foundation to continue working and the biggest thanks he can receive is to watch his patients enjoy their lives anew.

Outside of surgery Dr. Sheppard is an avid trail runner, hiker and winter sports enthusiast. He would join a book club if they met between 10pm and MN.
