The Oregon Poison Center is a resource for the public health care workers and emergency responders in the event of a disaster or any incident involving chemical agents. Our staff works with a variety of local, state and regional agencies to facilitate public information, preparedness and response.

The nursing and medical staff provides ongoing consultation and patient management assistance. In addition, the poison center works closely with public health agencies to facilitate accurate and efficient communication to the public in the event of an emergency.

In the event of a disaster, the role for the Oregon Poison Center is to provide patient treatment guidelines to health care providers at their respective treatment facilities, as well as patient management support to on-scene emergency responders. The poison center maintains a series of treatment guidelines called Fast Facts, which can be electronically transmitted to emergency facilities throughout our region.
