Transcultural Care Project in Madras

St. Charles Hospital Madras used their FY18 Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) award to target improved Native American patient satisfaction and care outcomes. As part of a larger initiative to integrate cultural competence into hospital policy and practice, Chief Nursing Officer Candy Canga-Picar identified SHIP-eligible components of the programming to enhance offerings. Funds helped to provide nationally recognized training and education for staff, aimed at improving care and increasing patient satisfaction rates. The Oregon Medical Board has requested a presentation on the initiative, scheduled for the April 2020 meeting. Congratulations to Candy and the whole team for their work to make the hospital the best provider of care possible for all members of the community.
