2020 Forum on Aging in Rural Oregon Instructions for Speakers

2020 Forum on Aging in Rural Oregon banner

The Oregon Office of Rural Health thanks you for being a speaker at the annual Forum on Aging in Rural Oregon.  This event engages those involved in making rural and frontier Oregon communities healthy places to age.  The Forum emphasizes the social determinants of health that directly impact the ability to age in place, such as housing, environmental modifications, social connections, nutrition and physical activity.

Information and Disclosure for CE Application (Time-Sensitive)

Please complete this disclosure statement here.  If you have any questions about what constitutes a conflict, please contact Laura Potter | potterla@ohsu.edu.  Many financial relationships, such as employment with a health care organization, are not conflicts of interest by the ACCME definition.

All speakers must register here.   You will notice that speaker registration is $0 for Speaker 1.  If you have multiple speakers per presentation, each additional speaker will be charged a special speaker rate of $150.  For such presentations, you should decide among yourselves who will receive the free registration and who will pay.

The Oregon Office of Rural Health has a block of rooms at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes with reduced rates.  You are responsible to make your own reservation. The room block fills up quickly, so reserve your room ASAP to get the hotel room that meets your needs. The hotel reservation link information may be found here.

Reimbursement for Travel Costs

The Oregon Office of Rural Health will reimburse one speaker per session for mileage, one night of lodging, and meals not included at the Forum.  If you are a solo speaker or one of multiple speakers, and your group has designated you as the speaker to receive reimbursement, please complete the reimbursement form following the Forum.

Presentation Formats and Deadlines

Many presenters use PowerPoint presentations, though this is not required.  We suggest that you do not embed videos in your presentation, as problems often occur with them.  Accommodations may be made upon request. Your presentation will be requested via email approximately three weeks prior to the event.   We do our utmost to ensure that files are not corrupted, but it is recommended that you bring a copy on a USB stick.

Presentation Publication to the Oregon Office of Rural Health Website

We will publish a PDF version of your presentation on our website following the Forum unless you direct us not to do so.  You will have an opportunity on the online registration form to indicate your preference.
