Workshop Description

Headshot of Allison Coffin

Scientific conferences, workshops, university visits are about more than just presenting our research on the podium or as a poster – they offer an opportunity to connect with other people. While waiting for coffee, someone will invariably turn to you and ask, “What do you do?” This question begs for a short and informative answer – the elevator pitch. In this workshop we’ll talk about the components of an elevator pitch and how to tailor that pitch for different scenarios – conference colleagues want different information than potential investors or interview committees. This is an active workshop! Come prepared to participate, practice, and have fun.
