Please join the Oregon Healthcare Associated Infections Program for a free two-day Fundamentals of Infection Prevention course! Content will be tailored to address the role of the infection preventionist in long-term care and outpatient facilities, however public health professionals and those interested in infection prevention in other settings are welcome to attend.

More About this Event
This course is open to healthcare or public health professionals with an interest in infection control and prevention. Content will be tailored to address the role of the infection preventionist in long-term care and outpatient facilities, however those interested in infection prevention in other settings are welcome to attend.

Topics will include:

  • Hand hygiene and personal protective equipment
  • Appropriate patient placement
  • Respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette
  • Proper handling, cleaning and disinfection of patient care equipment, environment and textiles
  • Injection safety
  • Basic microbiology and antibiotic stewardship
  • Surveillance and reporting
  • Outbreak and emergency management
  • Education of healthcare personnel, patients and families
