As the use of algorithms in healthcare practice and delivery has grown, concerns about how they may perpetuate health disparities have been raised. In this journal club style seminar, together we will discuss what algorithmic bias is, how it arises, the impact of algorithms on peoples’ health and well-being, and avenues for identifying and mitigating bias.

This seminar, which is part of the BERD Program’s Anti-racism in data and analysis series, is suitable for those with no prior exposure to algorithmic bias. Attendees will be expected to read a paper and listen to part of a recorded talk in preparation for the seminar and are welcome to share their own experiences.

Register via Compass. Note, seminar will not be recorded.
