Anesthesia Toolbox Acquired by ASA

APOM and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) recently reached an agreement for the ASA to take over the management of the Anesthesia Toolbox. For those who aren't familiar with it, the Anesthesia Toolbox was developed by Dr. Glenn Woodworth. In 2014, he recognized that online sources of content were becoming increasingly utilized by residents for their medical education. Over the past 6 years, under Dr. Woodworth’s leadership, the Toolbox has grown to include 244 lecture slide sets, 143 mini-PBLDs, 135 PBLDs, 194 online modules, 143 podcasts, and 52 videos. The Toolbox is now used by more than 90 anesthesia residency training programs, including several international programs. The Toolbox also offers free access to programs in underdeveloped countries. OHSU and APOM are proud to have been the home and main driver of the Toolbox over the years, and are now excited to see it transitioned to the ASA where it can further grow. Congratulations to Natasha Warikoo, MD/PhD student in the Schnell Lab, for being selected as one of three 2022 Lacroute Fellows. These fellowships, made possible by a generous donation from Ms. Ronni Lacroute, and matched by the OHSU Foundation, are specifically designed to support students in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) to support the students’ stipend as well as funds to participate in and travel to scientific courses or conferences. Natasha receives double congratulations, as she was also selected as a 2021 OMEF Special Recognition Leadership Scholar. This nomination comes with a scholarship award, providing significant financial assistance in addition to personalized mentorship with some of Oregon’s top healthcare and thought leaders.
