Seminar Description
This presentation will provide an overview of the Health Experience Research Network (HERN), the US chapter of DIPEx International, and the ways in which it utilizes a unique methodology of rigorous qualitative research to understand and disseminate information about people’s experiences with health and health care in the US context.
Attendees will learn about:
- The key principles of the DIPEx methodology, including what makes it different from other qualitative approaches;
- Completed and ongoing DIPEx projects (called ‘modules’) in the US and how findings are publicly disseminated via the www.healthexpereincesusa.org website, with examples from a recently completed module on veterans’ experiences with traumatic brain injury;
- Potential uses for DIPEx modules, the development of a qualitative data repository that includes transcripts of interviews available for secondary analysis, and future directions for the US network.
