NANS/WIN Stearns Award and more

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Hutchens, for being elected an honorary member of the OHSU chapter of the National Academy of Inventors. The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) was founded to recognize and encourage inventors and innovators across the country.  The goals are to enhance the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encourage the disclosure of intellectual property, educate and mentor innovative students, and translate the inventions of its members to benefit society. Honorary Members are those university faculty, staff, students, and members of the community who have facilitated and nurtured innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship at OHSU.

Congratulations to Dr. Sandy Christiansen, for receiving the North American Neuromodulation Society and Women in Neuromodulation Lisa Stearns Award. The  award was established to recognize clinical and scientific excellence in cancer pain interventional therapies and neuromodulation as well as to honor the legacy of Lisa Stearns, MD (1958-2020).” The award is accompanied by a $1,500 grant, generously provided by Medtronic, Inc.
 
Congratulations to Drs. Nabil Alkayed and Miriam Treggiari, Elyse Allen, and team for the publication of their work in the journal Neurocritical Care titled, “A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibition in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.” This trial, which was supported by a mentored research training grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) and GlaxoSmithKline (provider of the study drug free-of-charge), was conducted in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at OHSU from May 2018 to April 2019.

Congratulations to Drs. Sandy Christiansen and Katie Schenning for being selected to receive OHSU Faculty Initiative Pool funding. Dr. Christiansen’s award will allow her to attend the ASRA Pain Conference and Dr. Schenning’s award will allow her to attend the Emerging Leaders in Aging program.
