A huge THANK YOU for everyone's support in putting together welcome/restart packages for the Afghan refugees - we were overwhelmed by how quickly people responded and how generous people were with funds, making kits, and even forwarding the information on so even more people could contribute. Contributors were associated with our lab, including CHH floormates from KCVI, Ob/Gyn and Dermatology.

We raised over $2000 in a week, and that doesn’t even include the restart kits that several of you assembled yourselves, or the monies that were donated directly to the Refugee Care Collective. We just dropped off a total of 18 kits (12 assembled from monies collected, 6 assembled by various people), a bunch of gift cards, and also a cash donation so the Refugee Care Collective can purchase additional items as needs arrive. There was a continuous line of cars dropping off kits but the volunteers at the warehouse were amazed at how many kits we had.

Special thanks to Sarah Alaniz for initiating and driving this effort, Summer Lee Cox for organizing logistics, and Matt Hagen for helping buy supplies and deliver the boxes.
