OCTRI-BERD Research Forum: Reflections on Race and Ethnicity in Epidemiology
Presenter: Anjum Hajat, Ph.D., M.P.H.
When |
March 2, 2021
9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Several practices surrounding race/ethnicity in research are not given much consideration. Some researchers don't give much thought to aggregating race/ethnic groups to improve power. Others may not consider which race/ethnic group should serve as the referent group. And approaches to measuring race/ethnicity has been the domain of social scientists for far too long. In this talk, sponsored by the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, & Research Design (BERD) program, we will dig deeper into these commonplace practices to better understand their implications for health. This is our first guest speaker in our Anti-racism in Data and Analysis seminar series. Anjum Hajat, Ph.D., M.P.H., from the University of Washington Department of Epidemiology will lead this seminar. Register via Compass Click on the image below for a high-resolution flyer. |
