Research

Does sugammadex have benefits beyond reversing neuromuscular blockade?  Dr. Brandon Togioka and his team consisting of Drs. Mike Aziz, Liana Tsikitis, and Yiyi Chen were recently awarded a grant from Merck to investigate the effect sugammadex on postoperative bowel function in patients who have colorectal surgery. The study is Dr. Togioka’s second Merck sponsored RCT.  This study will present members of the department an opportunity to engage in funded clinical research.

Dr. Togioka also had two recent publications:

Togioka B, Xu X, Banner-Goodspeed V, Eikermann M.  Does sugammadex reduce postoperative airway failure? Anesth Analg. 2020 Jul; 131(1):137-140.

Togioka BM, Tonismae T. Uterine Rupture. StatPearls. Treasure Island (FL): StatPearls Publishing. 2020 Jun 28; PMID 32644635.
