Joseph is an attorney on OHSU’s intellectual property team responsible for evaluating and protecting OHSU intellectual property. He works closely with principal investigators, clinicians, and their teams to draft and prosecute patent applications in the biotech and mechanical arts. Joseph also has a background in intellectual property transactions, having served as an OHSU agreements officer managing industry-sponsored research, research collaboration, material transfer and confidentiality agreements.
Joseph graduated Lewis and & Clark Law School’s night program in 2018 after a twelve-year career in medical laboratory diagnostics that included serving as the molecular diagnostics and infectious disease technical specialist/supervisor for Kaiser Permanente and the molecular diagnostics supervisor for Peacehealth Laboratories. Joseph was board certified in molecular diagnostics by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and received his B.S. in microbiology from Brigham Young University.
In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing, mountaineering, playing poker, cooking, Crossfit, and exploring all the lesser-known corners of Oregon.
