Thriving OHSU research center seeks research engineers with a passion for improving Medicaid and Medicare

The OHSU Center for Health Systems Effectiveness (CHSE) is accepting applications for three data engineering positions.

Here we grow again! CHSE is looking for research engineers to support the Center’s portfolio of projects which examine issues central to health care service delivery to improve knowledge about delivery systems and payment reform in pursuit of improving the value of the US healthcare system.

NOTE: All three open positions have the potential for fully remote work.

Quality Metrics Analyst

The Quality Metrics Analyst provides support in analytic activities at the Center. This individual is responsible for maintaining and building upon CHSE’s repository of healthcare quality, utilization and cost measures.

Education/Experience Requirments: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience -OR- 5 years of relevant experience.

Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator works with other Data Engineering team members and analytic staff to provide maintenance and support for CHSE’s data and analytic infrastructure. They are also responsible for the design and development of CHSE’s data and analytic environment, and will act as a liaison to the OHSU Advanced Computing Center and work extensively with OHSU’s Exacloud computing cluster.

Education/Experience Requirments: Master’s degree in a relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience -OR- a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience.

TAF Research Engineer

CHSE has obtained the first-ever national repository of state Medicaid data for research use, the Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) Analytic Files (TAF), from the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The TAF Research Engineer provides high-level management of a complex data infrastructure in support of TAF-based research. This position is responsible for building out CHSE’s internal TAF analytic framework, and also plays a critical role in supporting cross-institutional use of TAF data via the development of a TAF analytic toolset and management of a corresponding open-source GitHub code repository. 

Education/Experience Requirments: Master’s degree in a relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience -OR- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience -OR- 7 years of relevant experience.
