Please join us for a virtual Grand Rounds presentation, “Exercise is Medicine: For Health Care Practitioners and Patients”, presented by Rachel Bengtzen, M.D.

What if exercise was practiced as an indispensable part of our day, rather than expendable? In this talk, we explore this paradigm shift, and I include myself as a case study. We will go through the literature on how most physicians are not meeting the minimum exercise guidelines, but that those who do, are more effectively discussing physical activity in the care of their patients. We will discuss the evidence on exercise being prescribed to prevent and even treat many common health problems. We will conclude with how to implement this in our clinical practice with how to assess and prescribe exercise as medicine to patients.

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

• Describe the evidence basis of Exercise as a Medicine.
• Assess our own habits as health care practitioners in meeting minimum exercise requirements.
• Learn how to assess and prescribe exercise with patient care.
